Medium-sized Businesses

The German term “Mittelstand” refers to those companies that do not exceed certain limits in terms of turnover, number of employees or total assets.

To differentiate these so-called SMEs from large companies, reference is made to the level of sales and/or the number of employees of the company, and in some cases also to the balance sheet total.
